Review: Kiss and Tell by Suzanne Brockmann

Today I am buddy reviewing with Kris - a first for us. Kris hails from the Reading Spot, one of my fave blogs - Kris has influenced many a book buying decision of mine. LOL

As always, there are spoilers. Ye've been warned!
When Leila Hunt is swept off her feet by a ninja at a New Year's Eve costume party, she has no idea who the masked man is - but after he disappears into the night, she's determined to find him. When the clock struck twelve, what began as a friendly New Year's greeting quickly became the most unforgettable kiss Leila had ever experiences with anyone - including her absent boyfriend. But of all the possible suspects, Leila hardly imagines that the ninja is the same man who's teased, tormented - and secretly intrigued her - since childhood.

Marshall Devlin is finally ready to face the terrifying truth: he's in love with his best friend's sister, and has been for years. There's just one complication: Leila didn't know he was her ninja. To win her, Marsh will have to woo her. But can he make Leila forget their decades of verbal sparring in time to stop her from making the biggest mistake of her life?
Ames: So-what did you think?

Kris: I enjoyed this book a lot. It combined two of my favorite themes, friends to lovers and sibling's best friend. The other one that comes to mind is the saying, there is a thin line between love and hate. These two have been fighting one another since they were kids. I love that they get together.

Ames: I know! That's what I liked about it too. Friends to lovers is one of my fave themes ever. So although these two aren't really best friends - they grew up around each other and have that history.

Leila, she kind of got on my nerves sometimes. But I like how she came around to liking Devlin and the more she liked him, the more I liked her. LOL

Kris: Yeah, Leila was kind of annoying at first, but then she grew on me. She was looking out for her friend.
I thought it was a very entertaining storyline to watch unfold. I kept waiting and wondering when and how she was going to find out who her "ninja" admirer was. I loved how Devlin began to court her, so sweet.

Ames: Yeah, it was fun to see how it played out. I wasn't disappointed at all.

I like how Leila started to see the true Devlin, not the ice cube she thought he was. And it helps that he knew he loved her already. Not like they both found out at the same time.

And the whole "ninja" thing, I thought that was going to be more involved and it wasn't. Which made me happy - I didn't want to see Leila and her friend act dumb trying to "solve" a mystery. LOL There was no true mystery. OOh, I like when Devlin got jealous over the two guys.

Ok, I thought Kiss and Tell was thoroughly enjoyable.  A solid B from me.  :P

Kris:  I thought this was a good solid story from her. Definitely worth reading if you want a fun light read. Solid B from me.

I loved this one, too. Don't you love going back to read all her old books? They're so much gentler than her current books (which I love, of course). Sometimes I feel like I'm just floating on a raft on a lake when I read them... there are little dips and occasionally the raft gets rocked, but it's just a nice, gentle, satisfying ride.

I just read this over the weekend. I thought it was cute and light. I read it directly on the heels of Into the Fire, which may not have been fair. I think I would have liked it even more if I had some down time (or another book as a buffer) before picking it up.

If you have not read it yet you need to snag Body Language. Hands down my favorite of her early, non-SEAL stories.

Lori-That's a good analogy - because her current releases are like white water rafting. LOL These are pleasant rafts that don't throw us around. :P

Shannon-I agree - having just finished Into the Fire, this one would seem very tame in comparison. I think I have Body Language in my tbr pile - I'll keep an eye out for it. LOL

OOOOhhh, I'm so tempted!! So this is more of a straight contemporary romance right? No military guy?

So, Ames... can I borrow your copy? LOL :P

It is a straight contemporary - no military. And yes, you can borrow my copy. :P

I read this one a few months ago. It was actually the first novel by Brockmann that I read (*ducks head*). I liked it a lot and went on and read "Body Language" then (liked it, too).

I'm a sucker for straight contemporary romance. :)

Taja - Glad you liked Body Language. I still have that in my tbr pile. Hero Undercover didn't work for me, but her other contemporaries I enjoy. Of course I love her Troubleshooters series. Did you start that one yet?

Ames, I only read Kiss and Tell and Body Language by Brockmann. I think about getting The Kissing Game and I have The Unsung Hero in my TBR pile (for some years now actually). I hope/plan to read it later this year as part of Keishon's TBR Challenge.

Ooh good plan re: the challenge! I hope you enjoy it and I'll keep my eye out for your review. :P
