New Releases - September

Happy Labor Day everyone!! Hope everyone is enjoying the long week-end!!

Here are the rest of the new releases that the Breezing Through team is looking forward to in September :) Our intentions were to have bi-weekly posts, but in this case? The post would have been really short, LOL :) So we decided to do the rest of the month... We'll see for next month :)

Any of these you're waiting for as well?

Drawn in Blood by Andrea Kane
Former FBI Special Agent Sloane Burbank is finally ready to take the next step in her relationship with her former colleague Derek Parker. The couple has already survived hardship, from breaking up to outwitting a crazed killer targeting Sloane. This second chance at love and happiness seems like a dream come true. But nothing is that easy.

Sloane's father witnessed a crime over a decade ago that has come back to haunt him - and his family. After a vicious attack at the Burbank home, Sloane faces a tough decision: betray her father's secret, or withhold vital information from him, especially when it impacts his job.until he is faced with the same tough choice.

Though they love each other deeply, can this couple who's faced so much overcome this ultimate test of trust - and will they stay alive long enough to find the answer?
Genre: romantic suspense
Series: I think it is connected to one of her previous books, but I don't think it's part of a series per se.

Nath: Hmmm, I have to admit I'm not too sure if I'll get this right away in hardcover format or wait till its release in paperback. This is the first book by Ms Kane in 2 years... I don't know why there was a break. Her books are usually very solid and I'm a bit curious about Sloane Burbank - I think she appeared in previous books... At the same time though, I don't need it NOW... so perhaps I'll wait... or maybe the library :)

Sliding Home by Kate Angell
The left fielder for the Richmond Rogues had returned from six weeks of spring training in Florida to find someone had moved into his mobile home. That person was presently in his shower. And no matter how sexy the squatter might be, Kason wanted her out.

He had his trusty dobie, Cimarron; he didn’t need anyone else in his life. Not even a stubborn tomboy who roused all kinds of wild reactions in him, then soothed his soul with peace offerings of macaroni & cheese and rainbow Jell-O. The bad boy of baseball was ready to play hardball if need be, but with Dayne Sheridan firmly planted between his sheets, he found himself…
Genre: contemporary sport romance
Series: Richmond Rogues (Boys of the Summer?), Book #4

Nath: This is the fourth book in the Richmond Rogues series. So far, I've really enjoyed the series; the books are fun and fast reads. The perfect way to end the summer :) I do hope that the story will focus entirely on Kason and Dayne...

Monroe: I had never read any of her books but after reading this blurb I think its right up my alley! I love sports related romances!!! And she's a tomboy! Even better...I feel a makeover coming on! ;op

Chantal: I've never read any of this, either. It looks good, though! Count me in on this one. I don't even care about reading the 4'th book first.

The Princess and the Pea by Victoria Alexander
A true American princess, Cecily White stood to inherit her father’s business empire. And with the twentieth century right around the corner, the independent beauty had no intention of marrying some foreign nobleman seeking her money. Then on a trip to England, Cece fell under the spell of a dashing peer who had more to recommend him than the length of his title and the size of his countinghouse. But Cece wouldn’t surrender her heart to the virile Earl of Graystone until he proved that the only treasure he wanted was her love.
Genre: historical romance
Series: Faerie Tale romance, book #1

Nath: I was surprised to find out that Ms Alexander had a new release with Dorchester... but then, it turns out this is a re-print. It's okay, I've never read it... and Ms Alexander is my comfort author when it comes to historical :) I really like her books most of the time, so I hope this won't go differently.

September 15

The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown

Genre: fiction, mystery
Series: Robert Langdon, book #3

Ames: I'm not going to deny the fact that I'm looking forward to this book. I gobbled up the DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons. Especially Angels and Demons. I love these kinds of books!

Chantal: Yup. yup. yup. I'm usually not a fan of anything that is not romance, but this is a book that I am eager to read.

When their flirtation compromises her own reputation, Poppy shocks everyone by accepting his proposal-only to find that her new husband offers his passion, but not his trust. Still, as desire grows between them, an enemy lurks in the shadows. Now if Harry wants to keep Poppy by his side, he must forge a true union of body and soul, once and for all...
Genre: historical romance
Series: The Hathaways, book #3

Nath: I know I must not be the only one looking forward to this one. I like Ms Kleypas enough, but I have to say the blurb sounds good... or at least, the hero does... Hopefully, he won't turned out to be titled :)

Ames: I'm looking forward to this one too! I read the other books before this one and I enjoyed them enough - although I forgot to blog about them. Plus I'm such an LK fan I'll buy anything she puts out. Autobuy!

Chantal: Me too! I love that name--Poppy.

Monroe: I LOVE this woman! I have to admit that I haven't read her historicals yet (but I have them all ;op) but I always look forward to a LK book!

An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon
Jamie Fraser, former Jacobite and reluctant rebel, is already certain of three things about the American rebellion: The Americans will win, fighting on the side of victory is no guarantee of survival, and he'd rather die than have to face his illegitimate son-a young lieutenant in the British army-across the barrel of a gun.

Claire Randall knows that the Americans will win, too, but not what the ultimate price may be. That price won't include Jamie's life or his happiness, though-not if she has anything to say about it.

Meanwhile, in the relative safety of the twentieth century, Jamie and Claire's daughter, Brianna, and her husband, Roger MacKenzie, have resettled in a historic Scottish home where, across a chasm of two centuries, the unfolding drama of Brianna's parents' story comes to life through Claire's letters. The fragile pages reveal Claire's love for battle-scarred Jamie Fraser and their flight from North Carolina to the high seas, where they encounter privateers and ocean battles-as Brianna and Roger search for clues not only to Claire's fate but to their own.
Because the future of the MacKenzie family in the Highlands is mysteriously, irrevocably, and intimately entwined with life and death in war-torn colonial America.
Genre: historical
Series: Outlander, book #7

Monroe: I seriously LOVE Jamie, Claire, Bree...Roger...EVERYONE! I know DG can be long winded but I really don't mind at all. Lots of people get scared off by the size of these books but I say just jump right in! You're never let down!

September 29

On The Edge by Ilona Andrews
The Broken is a place where people shop at Wal-Mart and magic is nothing more than a fairy tale.

The Weird is a realm where blueblood aristocrats rule and the strength of your magic can change your destiny.

Rose Drayton lives on the Edge, the place between both worlds. A perilous existence indeed, made even more so by a flood of magic-hungry creatures bent on absolute destruction.
Genre: Urban fantasy
Series: The Edge, book #1

Nath: This is the first book in a new series by the authors of the Kate Daniels series. I like the Kate Daniels, so I want to try out their new series :)

Frostbitten by Kelley Armstrong
The Alaskan wilderness is a harsh landscape in the best of conditions, but with a pack of rogue werewolves on the loose, it's downright deadly.

Elena Michaels, the Pack's chief enforcer, knows all too well the havoc "mutts" can wreak. When they hear of a series of gruesome maulings and murders outside Anchorage, she and her husband, Clay, journey to Alaska in the dead of winter in order to hunt down the dangerous werewolves. Trapped in this savage, untamed winter realm, she and Clay learn more about their own werewolf heritage than they bargained for, tapping a little more into the wild nature of the beast within. With Elena back in the starring role, this is the book Kelley Armstrong fans have been waiting for.
Genre: urban fantasy
Series: The Women of the Otherworld, book #10

Nath: This is MY big release of the month, the one I'll move heaven and earth to get ASAP :) I have to say, I'm soooo glad Ms Armstrong is such a prolific author. Otherwise, I'd be going in withdrawal LOL :) This is the newest entry in the Women of the Otherworld series and once again, Elena is the narrator. I'm looking forward to read more about Clay and Elena together as well as how their lives have changed with the babies :D

Doubleblind by Ann Aguirre
As a "Jumper" who navigates ships through grimspace, Sirantha Jax is used to kicking ass. So why is she suddenly chosen as an ambassador of peace?
Genre: Sci-Fi/fantasy
Series: Sirantha Jax, book #3

Ames: Here's another perfect example of blogger buzz and me buying books even if I haven't read the author yet.

Highland Dragon by Kimberly Killion
A desire that defies all limits…
and a love that was meant to be…

Scotland 1502. Akira Neish has been raised as a peasant, her belly often empty and her family subject to the cruel whims of her clan's laird. To the clan’s children, the horned shaped birthmark she bears means she is a witch. But she is neither peasant nor witch — and now the man who knows the truth has returned to claim her for his own.

Calin MacLeod has kept Akira's secrets and to avenge his father, the sensual young laird must marry her. He is more than a match for the fiery nature of the woman he adores. Yet the passion they share — and truths that can no longer remain hidden — could rip all of Scotland apart...
Genre: historical romance

Ames: This sounds interesting. Also, this author came to my attention when she had a very very generous contest. Which I did not win. LOL

Chantal: Count me in for this one. Anything with Highland in the title is sure to rock my socks.

Nath: Hmmm, this sounds very intriguing...

Born of Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Old enemies and new threaten them both and the only way they can survive is to overcome their suspicions and learn to trust in the very ones who threaten them the most: each other.
Genre: paranormal romance
Series: Leagued, book #1

Ames: I'm not 100% sold on this new series. But it could be interesting, right? What's with the crazy unpronounceable names though?

Nath: Hey Ames, not sure this is a new series. I think this is actually a re-print of her old work...

Monroe: Ya I'm not sure about this series either... but what I have read of her I have liked so I think it's worth a shot!

Nath: Well you know ladies, since it's a re-print, it's probably closer in style to the first few books of the Dark Hunter series... in which case, it might be worth a try :)

Once again, seems like I'm the one with the most releases ^_^; Luckily, I'm not the one with a 50$ budget :P What about you? What are the books you're looking forward to?

Oooo two books I want to check out! Dan Brown and Lisa Kleypas. I'll probably buy the lisa kleypas though.

The Lisa Kleypas and Ilona Andrews I'll be getting. I have the first 5 Gabaldons, still need to read them. :) She's doing a signing less than an hour for me for this book. I thought about going just to experience an author signing but I'm guessing it will be very crowded.

Isabel - LOL, the two books you want I'm sure are going to be best-sellers :) The good thing though is that they should be easy to find with nice tag price :)

Leslie - I have to say, I'm a bit put out by the size of the the Gabaldons ^_^;

Where do you live, Leslie?

Psst - I want to buddy review the Ilona Andrews? :) Again, another author you hooked me on!!

Leslie said...

The size of the Gabaldons is what has put me off them for so long. Very intimidating.

I'm in the suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona. The signing is at the Biltmore(fancy resort) in the "Grand Ballroom" so I'm guessing they're expecting a crowd. LOL

I get credit for hooking you on Andrews? Cool. :) Yes, definite buddy review on the new one.

nath said...

Leslie - I mean, they are huuuge, no? LOL :)

Yep, you get credit for hooking me on Andrews :D LOL. Thurman, Andrews... sigh, who's next? :)
